What a top top weekend and it started with a couple of hours windsurfing at The Dip/Felixstowe on Thursday 18th and then Mag and I packed our van and headed to the south coast to pick up a couple of windsurfers and met up with our son Rob at his new job in Surrey:) We arrived at our overnight stop at Hurst Castle and parked just outside Keyhaven on a road which can flood at high water with views over the marshes to Hurst Castle,The Solent and the Isle of Wight in time for a great display of fireworks set off by the Needles !!! Then at 6 the next morning after a good nights sleep and no flooded road :) I set off along the sea wall, camera in hand to take some misty marsh and still water sunrise pics,I was even lucky enough to see a kingfisher :) while Mag dozed and read her book in the van . After breakfast we both set off for a walk along the sea wall, sharing the path with some serious twitchers. Mag took her new binoculars and bird book and we spent some time watching the egrets and turnstones in the harbour of Keyhaven or town of ladders as I call it !!! check the pics to see what I mean ??? We continued past the harbour hoping to make it to Lymimgton. It was just too far for the time we had available and after walking for a couple of miles with marshes to one side and The Solent the other we headed inland along a foot/cycle path to make it a circular walk back to the van for lunch. It was a great 5 mile + walk in brilliant blue skies without a breath of wind :) It was then time to put the post code of the first board we were picking up into the satnav - borrowed from our son Dan and head off to Southbourne near Bournemouth - it was the airshow and we were hoping not to get caught in alot of traffic ??? We found the first board - David Coles 124 lt Fanatic Falcon slalom board with no problem just as the Battle of Brittain Flight passed over head !!!! Time to get my board now this time a 80 lt Fanatic Falcon small slalom (hoping to get a 40 kt. ave. with this) from Poole, this accomplished we parked by the harbour and headed to the beach for an icecream just in time to see the Red Arrows great display :) sadly one of the pilots crashed and died the next day at Bournemouth :( Our excursion to the South Coast complete we headed to meet up with Rob at Sayers Croft a Residential Field Centre in Ewhurst,Surrey. As we parked we saw a baby deer just sitting at the end of one of the huts! Rob showed us a good spot we could park under some trees with views of the wood and we set off for a meal in pizza express with him and girlfriend Hannah. :)
